While using Spire, technical activity is being saved in two separate log files. These files are useful to track down any errors that may have occurred in amongst all the standard and successfully run processes. The Spire Server ‘spired.log’ contains activity at the application level, and the PostgreSQL log contains activity at the database level. To keep log files from getting extremely large, the system will occasionally save each log with a new file name that contains today’s date and create a new file for logging the processes.

If you are having a technical issue, Support may ask for log files as part of the investigation. From either the Spire Server or PostgreSQL lists, highlight the desired file on the left and use the Download button to save a text file of the log contents. There is also a Copy to Clipboard button if you simply want to paste the text into some other document or email. The arrow up and down will allow you to view the complete log.
