Whether a requisition is created from Inventory items, Sales orders or Production orders, when the Requisition button is clicked the list of items that need ordering are populated in the Requisition work screen.
From here, you can select just those items you want to requisition, and change quantities, costs or vendors for any item. Then either save all selections to the Requisitions list where the Required Qty is greater than zero. Or if you have user security rights, Process the items immediately into new Purchase or Production Orders, where each manufactured item becomes a new Production Order, and all other items are added to new Purchase Orders for each identified vendor. If you do not Process a saved requisition here, it will need to be done either by you or someone else from the Requisition module.
When a new Open Purchase Order gets created or an existing Open PO is appended to, the sales or production order number is saved on the PO detail line along with the customer number in Source fields. This is helpful so that the person receiving the purchase order knows the source sales order and does not instead stock them in the warehouse, and can even open the sales order using the Open Source button.
The sales or production order details also have the respective purchase order numbers saved with them, which could be different if they are purchased from different vendors. This is helpful so that the person inquiring on the sales order knows that a PO has already been created and can be looked up from the Open Target button.
