The communications tab allows storing notes in items, assigned to a particular user for follow up on a specified date, including file attachments or links to web URLs, and give an alert when it is chosen on transactions.

Notes can be added to inventory items for various reasons. If the alert flag is set in the Display section, this note will pop up when adding the item to a sales or purchase order. The note can also be assigned to a user so that when the user logs into Spire and the note is due or overdue it will be included on their alerts list, until such time that the task on the note is completed.

Any number of attachments can be added to an item. Once attached, you can open one simply by double clicking the attachment name or single clicking a link name, and it will open in the default viewer for that type of file or link. The Open Attachment button will load the first listed attachment or link if multiple are defined. In this example the ‘Hints and Tips’ image will be loaded in the default picture viewer, as it is listed first.

This note can also be included on any report. Many of Spire’s stock reports have a sub report on them, hidden but can be unsuppressed by using Crystal Reports to edit them. Your Spire partner can assist to have them print if required.
