After you have finished downloading the file, you are ready to start the Client installation. Click on the link from your Download screen (or on the file itself from your Downloads folder).
You will next see the Spire Setup Wizard. Click Next to continue.
You will be asked to select an installation location. We recommend leaving it set to the default.
The next window asks permission to turn on data collection. This allows and errors to be sent to Spire without the users intervention. It is highly recommended to turn this on as it helps us with program development. No propitiatory information is sent.
Next you will be asked about setting the Desktop Icon – set as you wish.
You are ready to proceed – click Install.
You will see a Progress Bar.
You will be notified that the installation is complete.
Opening Spire Desktop
You may then launch the Client and log in to Spire. Note that you log in before selecting a company as not every user has access to all company’s.
The first time you log in you will have to select a server from the list. You can choose to remember this selection for future logins and save time by being able to skip this screen.
If you need to add the new server host name, the button at the top right with three dots will allow you to do this.
You then need to provide your credentials to access Spire, using your email address and password, which will be remembered for subsequent logins.
If you incorrectly enter your password 5 times, you will be locked out for a given amount of time before you can try again. If you cannot wait that long, an Admin user could change your password, which immediately resets the lockout timer.
If you are using the Spire Virtual Appliance with Spire Server, credential authentication is done through tokenization in your web browser. If you toggle the Save Credentials option from the Login screen, after the first time your sign-on is authenticated, it will be reused for future sign-ons.
After authentication is complete, the list of companies that you have access to will be displayed.
Clicking Exit will take you back to the host name list. Or select the company you want to access, change any company-specific default settings, and click the Login button.
