When preforming an upgrade that already has a Spire licence the first screen you will see is the login to Spire server administration. The login user must be a Spire administrator.

This following screen lets you know that the current license information will be retrieved.

Next you sign into an active Spire Central license by entering your email address and password and click ‘Log In’ at the bottom. If you do not yet have a Spire Central license, instead you may create a trial license from the ‘Sign Up’ section. If you have a Gmail account or your company email is hosted on Google, then you can use ‘Sign in with Google’ to access Spire Central, which would include all Google-related authorization such as 2-factor authentication. Note that this is the email address associated with the Spire license holder.

If you chose to sign into Spire Central using an email address, an email will then be sent for the purpose of verifying your account. After verification, you can then use the ‘login’ link freom the web browser to sign back into Spire Central.

After Spire Central access has been verified, you now need to identify the host name associated with your license and company access. When you are starting to use Spire, you won’t yet have any host names created and you should choose the New Hostname selection. If you have been using Spire or perhaps are installing on a new server, choose the host name from the top section that you been using previously.

This host name then needs to be issued a security certificate, and that certificate is used for encrypting network traffic. If in the future you log on to a server, and do not use the host name allocated, traffic no longer uses https:// but rather http://. You will receive a warning to this effect at each logon. We highly recommend you use the host-name allocated. It ensures secure communications with your Spire server. The creation of the certification can take up to several minutes.

The upgrade is complete when you are presented with the login to Spire Server Administration. Log in with a user that is set as a Spire administrator.

When an administrator logs in they will see a screen similar to the following.

Spire Server Administration can be accessed from anywhere on the network where Spire is installed. Any user can logon to Spire Server Administration, but only admin users can perform all functions (backup, restore, report uploads, assign company logo, etc).
