A snapshot is a single file a fraction of the size the original PostgreSQL data, created in the server admin and then copied off site to be stored as a backup. The restore function points to that single file and re-creates the original Spire dataset.

Backup

Set up snapshots in Spire Admin, by selecting a company from the list and clicking the settings icon.

Select a snapshot time, interval and number of snapshots to keep.

Restore

The restore is done in Spire Admin. In the companies menu, select the restore icon. (up Arrow)

Browse for the snapshot to restore and give the database a name different from any existing. Then click the restore button.

Alternatively, you can restore a snapshot directly from the Snapshots area of the Server Administrator, without first having to download the snapshot to a file and then browse to there to do the restore.
