Hardware Requirements

Spire Server

Spire Server is supported on the following Microsoft Windows editions:

Windows 10 (not Home editions)
Windows 11 (not Home editions)
Windows Server 2016
Windows Server 2019
Windows Server 2022

It is highly recommended that Spire Server and Spire data is installed on the System Drive.

Hardware Requirements:

Minimum Recommended
2.4 GHz quad core processor i7 or 2.8 GHz Xeon processor
12 GB RAM (Remote Desktop Server and/or Exchange Server will need additional RAM) 16-32 GB RAM (or more)
Display with native resolution of 1024×768 or higher Same
512 MB of disk space for Server and PostgreSQL database installation 10 GB
5+ GB of available disk space for data and data snapshots on System Drive, depending on the database size SSD or fast RAID array
1000 Mbps network required to use Spire Server on a Local Area Network with multiple connected workstations Gigabit Network

Light use Spire Sever implementations can use Minimum requirements. However, implementations of 5+ users or a database of 1+ GB, should use Recommended requirements.

Spire Desktop

Spire Desktop is supported on the following Microsoft Windows editions:

Windows 10 (not Home editions)
Windows 11 (not Home editions)
Windows Server 2016
Windows Server 2019
Windows Server 2022

Hardware Requirements:

Minimum Recommended
2.4 GHz processor i5 – 3.06 GHz processor or higher
8 GB RAM 16 GB RAM
Display with native resolution of 1366×768 or higher (multiple displays and high DPI displays supported) 1920×1080 or higher
Keyboard and pointing device for data entry (Desktop interface does not currently support touch) Same
1000 Mbps network required to use Spire Desktop on a Local Area Network Gigabit Network

Other Installation Considerations

Installing Spire Desktop requires administrative rights to the workstation.

Prior to the installation of either Spire Server or Desktop, it may be necessary to temporarily disable the anti-virus software on the workstation in order to allow the install to complete successfully. One symptom might be that the spired.exe program gets incorrectly quarantined by the AV software, preventing the Spire service from running.
