Allocation accounts are not actual accounts, but rather codes that can be used to redirect posted amounts to multiple accounts, or redirect an account with a segment to a different account. For each allocation, you specify all the actual accounts and the respective percentages of the allocation total that are updated when posting.
The total of all allocated amount percentages must equal 100.0%, otherwise an error will appear and you will be unable to save the allocation account.
Using Allocation Accounts in Transactions
When you want to include an allocation account in a transaction, you can enter or select it from the Account No field in exactly the same way as for regular accounts.
You are not limited to the initial setup of the allocation for when the transaction is posted. Use the Expand Allocations button to load the defined allocated accounts and their calculated amounts, and either the accounts or the amounts can be edited prior to posting, or even deleted if an account won’t be used in this particular transaction.
